Hi all, I have recently swapped my 13 year old Yammy Dolby Prologic amp for the Yamaha DSP-AX763 I have just two questions, I have a 5.1 speaker system, the manual says to select the extra surround back speakers to none, this being my case because I have no extra surround back speakers, but it also says If I select none true hd sound tracks will not be passed to the normal surround speakers. Does this mean I will be not able to hear the True HD sound tracks on my 5.1 speaker system, if this is the case I may just as well use the digital coax connection on my blueray player to connect to the amp and connect the hdmi direct to the plasma tv.

Second question, is there any way of reducing the video output of the Yamaha DSP-AX763, when connecting my blueray player by hdmi via the amp the pictures are just too bright with high contrast level. If not I will have to re configure the plasma picture settings again. Many thanks for all your help to date. PS Great sound quality. Regards Mansel. Hello, I have the 763 and will try to answer your questions, I do agree the manual is a little confusing. Right as far as the speaker question goes, you will get true HD and DTS MA soundtracks on a 5.1 setup, what the manual is refering to is that if you have a disc with a 7.1 soundtrack the surround back left/right signals are ignored because there are no speakers to recieve the signal.
